Kids Need Help Sometimes

Here are a few ways to know if counseling is a good idea for your child or teen:

Here are a few ways to know if counseling is a good idea for your child or teen:

Medical Crisis

Any significant medical crisis in the child or the family can lead to anxiety and depression in children. If your child or any other family member has been hospitalized or is facing a long-term illness, it is a good idea to have them talk to a counselor.

Divorce

Sadly, many parents going through a separation are so focused on the divorce itself that they have a hard time realizing its effects on the kids. “Kids are resilient” or “The kids will be alright” are clichés that dismiss the long-term effects parental separation has on children. If you are going through a divorce, separation, or breakup, your kids need counseling.

There Is Hope

With help, your child can be happy.

ADHD

Attention issues sometimes require coping skills to maximize wellbeing and function. Struggling to focus may not seem like a reason to visit a counselor, but the help a counselor provides can make all the difference for both happiness and focus.

Behavioral Changes

Sometimes children face crises unknown to parents. Bullying or abuse may not be seen by the adults in a child’s life, but kids are likely to show signs of struggle. Prolonged depression, intense anger, violent outbursts, or isolation can be a sign that there is something the child needs to deal with.

Regardless of the concern, reach out to schedule an appointment for your child.
